This has been another wet day. The hop-pickers all come to the house and did not go back again until after dinner, and then they went out and staid all the afternoon.

David was here to day. He tends one box.

I want to pick, but it is so very wet I cannot think of it!

Monday, September 7, 1868

Well, it has rained again to day, but not much. Rob went around this morning and got his hop-pickers here. He had 16 to day. They are getting along very well.

Maria washed to day, and Ruth and Melia and I done the work and the baking, and we have to pitch in for certain to get around with our work.

Another pleasant day, as well as busy. We had 16 pickers again to day.

Melia is quite smart, but Maria is not well at all, but she will keep around.

They picked 191 bushels to day.

Mr. and Mrs. Riley was up this afternoon and staid till after tea.

We have had plenty of wash to do to day. We moped and baked bread and cookies and pies and cream cake.

Sunday, September 6, 1868

This has been a wet, disagreeable day! It has rained all the day long. We did not go anywhere, for we were all tierd and glad to rest.

We had a good ring this afternoon. David was here a little while this afternoon. I like his appearance very much.

We are going to get one hop picker to night.

Friday, September 4, 1868

This has been a very pleasant day, and a very busy day with us all. We had 16 pickers to day and a man to pull holes. They picked 190 bushels to day.

Rob got his first kiln [?] of to day at noon. They dry splendidly too this year, and the hops are beautiful.

Mrs. Stephens was here this afternoon a little while.

We put up some more beds to day.

Melia feels quite smart to day.

Thursday, September 3, 1868

This has been a very pleasant day. We commenced picking hops this morning with 12 pickers. They picked 170 bushels. Only 4 of them staid to night.

Melia feels some better to day, but she is not able to do much yet.

Clara picks hops.

Maria is not well. She has dysentery, so it makes it rather bad for us.

We have so much to do, but then we come out all right.

Tonight I have got a very sore mouth with c____.

A cloudy, dull day, but it did not rain any and it looks quite pleasant to night. Melia has kept on her bed all day to day, but she says she feels better to night.

Nellie Stephens was over this afternoon a little while.

Maria and Clara went down town this afternoon to get the mail and Clara some shoes. Clara got some shoes. Gave 20 shillings. They got a letter from James. The thrashers have come to night.

We shall thrash to morrow.

Wednesday, September 2, 1868

A very pleasant day to day. We had a very busy day! To day we got through thrashing at noon. Had 45 bushels of wheat and 92 bushels of oats.

Melia is some better to day. She was able to come down stairs.

I feel pretty tierd to night. We washed to day besides doing our iorning and lots of baking and putting up bedsteads for the hop pickers.

Ruth is drying apples to take home.

Maria does not feel very well to night, she says.
