Saturday, February 13, 1869

Well, this has been a warm, pleasant day, but it is raining to night. I never saw such mild weather this time of year!

I baked pies and bread to day. Melia moped and got snow to wash with Monday.

Pa and Will finished cleaning out the well. We have plenty of water in it now. They drawed out 17 buckets of dirt!

Maria went down town this afternoon to get some calico for an apron.

Friday, February 12, 1869

This has been a very pleasant day, but it is very muddy as it keeps warm yet. I have been at work on my quilt. Maria finished her dress. I cut out the waist to another dress this afternoon.

Pa commenced to clean out the well to day. He has been at work at it all day. He has drawed out 7 buckets of dirt. He thinks there will be plenty of water.

Thursday, February 11, 1869

This has been a very warm day for this time of year. I cut out some blocks this forenoon, and this afternoon Melia and Maria and I went over to Mrs. Harper’s and spent the afternoon. We had a pleasant visit.

I got a letter from Floyd to night. They are all well out there.

We made 10 blocks this afternoon.

February 10

This has been a pleasant day, but the snow is all gone again. I baked some pies this forenoon and this afternoon have been sewing on my night gown. I have got white pieces enough to finish my quilt now.

Maria has been at work on her dress to day.

Melia moped this forenoon.

The well is very wet [?].

February 9, 1869

This has been a dull, stormy day. It has rained most of the day. I cut out a night gown and commenced to make it. Maria cut a shirt for Rob.

Monday, Feb. 8

This has been a very pleasant day. The sun has shone clear and bright all day. The snow is going very fast. We washed to day.

Maria came home this evening to stay the rest of the week.
