Sunday, February 28, 1869

It has been some more pleasant to day, but it is storming to night. Rob came home a little while to day. Him and Frank Vowels rode up horseback.
Maria did not come to day. I don’t see why. I am afraid she is sick. I certainly think she would come if they had all been well.

Melia and Clara have gone down to a Lecture on Spiritualism this evening at the Hall by Mrs. Parsol of Pontiac.

Saturday, February 27, 1869

And still it is well and blustering and stormy! We have been doing a little of everything to day. I baked bread and pies this forenoon, and Melia moped, and this afternoon we finished the waists we had commenced.

Will went down town this afternoon. He got a letter from Annah. She is well. She has gone up to the stone school house to a spiritual meeting.

Friday, February 26, 1869

This has been another hideous day! It has snowed and blowed steadily all day. I churned this forenoon, and this afternoon have been sewing. I am making Melia an underwaist. She is making one too.
We intended to have gone down town, but could not think of it, [it] has been so cold.
Will drawed up some wood this morning.

I wonder if there is a letter for us to night.

Thursday, February 25, 1869

And still it is cold and stormy. There is the most snow on the ground now that we have had all winter at one time! We finished our quilt to day, bound it, and this evening we sewed some carpet rags.
I wonder if there is a letter for us. It is such bad walking we did not go, any of us. I hope there is.

Mr. Briggs has not been up yet. I think it is really too bad.

Monday, February 22; Tuesday, February 23; and Wednesday, February 24; 1869

Monday, February 22, 1869
Another stormy day; not quite as bad as yesterday but a good deal colder than yesterday. We washed this forenoon. We had a large wash. We washed Will’s sail cloth pants, and we are going to color them when we get them dry.
Pa and Will went down this morning and took a log to mill. I had Will stop to Mrs. Chappel’s and get her quilt frames this afternoon.
We put the quilt on [?], commenced to quilt some.

Tuesday, February 23, 1869
This has been a cold, stormy day. This wind is blowing a gale this evening and drifting the snow in great banks. There is good sleighing now.
I baked bread this forenoon. This afternoon I have been quilting. We have got it half done.
Mr. Briggs promised to come and leave the money he owed Rob, but he has not come. I feel sorry for Rob. He has disappointed him so many times, and he needs it so much!

Wednesday, February 24, 1869
Another cold, stormy day. The wind blows a perfect gale. We have been quilting again to day. I made some pies this forenoon, and coloring Will’s pants. We colored them with maple bark, and then this afternoon we finished quilting our quilt and took it off the frame. It is our star quilt.

Melia iorned this forenoon. Mother finished Clara’s Chemise that I commenced Monday evening.

Sunday, February 21, 1869

This has been a very stormy day. It has snowed all day. Rob has gone back again to night. Maria did not come up to day it was so stormy.
I have been writing to Ruth this evening, for I have received no answer to my last, and I thought it must be she had not received [it]. I hope I shall soon get an answer to this!
Rob went and saw Mr. Briggs to get his money, but he did not get it.
