Saturday, July 25, 1868

A nice day. It has been cloudy and good for the manual work in the harvest field. Henry has got all through cutting and drawing the wheat. He finished to night.

We finished Add’s dress and Cad’s, both calico. I put the trimming on my sacyne and dress to day. It took quite 5 yards, and it was 15 cents per yard.

This has been a very pleasant day. The smoke has cleared away and there is a nice breeze. Henry finished cutting his wheat to day and drawed in 6 loads. He has got one man to work for him.
I feel a little better than yesterday.

I have been helping to make Cad [a] dress.

Thursday, July 23, 1868

This has been a dull, gloomy day. The air is perfectly thick with smoke! It rained a little after tea.
Henry has been cutting wheat till tea time, and then he drawed in 3 loads of wheat.
I have felt about sick to day. I don’t know what is the trouble.

I have been sewing on Add’s dress to day.

Wednesday, July 22, 1868

A very warm day till after tea, and then it breezed up and was quite cool. Add went down town to drop Mrs. Green off at the depot, and she got the trimming for my dress! It was a green ribbon. It was 15¢ per yard and she got 5 yards.

I have been at work on her dress to day, and I baked bread. Had good luck.

Another cloudy day, and it does seem so good to see everything look refreshed. Add washed to day.
I got a letter from home last week while I was up the river to Annah, but I have not answered it for I have not any paper.
