Sunday, November 8, 1868

Sunday, November 8, 1868
Oh, what a dull, dismal day this has been! It has rained all day. It is concert night, but we cannot go.

The boys went up to Mr. Briggs’ this afternoon. Will finished husking corn to Mr. Davis to day. Rob came home this morning from Mr. McCain’s. He has just finished there, yet I have not seen David since last Monday to speak to him! I wish he would come to day. It is so lonesome and dull, but I guess he will not.

I got 3 signers, and I got my breakfast shawl that I sent for in Belle Tour’s club. I like it very much, and I got Rob’s custos [?] that he sent for in the same club. I bought 2 yards of calico to make a waist.

This has been a windy, cold day. I did not go out to Church to day. Clara went down. There was a funeral at the Methodist church to day. It was old Mrs. Gout.
Maria came home this afternoon, bag and luggage, to stay a few weeks.

Maria is writing to night. I’m writing a letter to a firm in Boston to get some circuits to get up a club if I get them.

Neice Notes: Celia was most likely inspired to start a club by Belle Tours, whom she had recently gone to see and who has been noted as an inspirational figure.
