We finished the socks we set up Monday.

Will is a good deal better to day.

What a delightful day this has been! The sun has shone clear and bright all day. I baked bread this forenoon, and this afternoon we melted and got ice to wash with next week, and this evening I finished Clara’s Chemise.
Will has been down to see Mrs. Mcain. His face is swollen very bad. They gave him some medicine to take, and they think he will get along.

This has been a very pleasant day. Maria came up this morning. Clara went down to meeting this morning.
Will is almost sick to day; his face is so bad!
Maria and Clara and Melia and I went down to Mr. Chappel’s to a circle this evening. We had a real good time! There was a good many there. They had another speaker besides Mr. Macain. It was Mrs. Wallace.

This has been another pleasant day for time of year. It has been trying to snow all day, but it don’t make out much. We washed this forenoon, and this afternoon we drawed some ice from the pond to use for we are entirely out of water, both hard and soft.

I cut up a sock this afternoon and have been knitting on it.

Friday, January 15, 1869

This has been another very pleasant day. It looks very much like a storm of some kind to night. We have been getting ice from the pond to melt for washing, for we are almost out of water. The well is dry and there is but very little in the cistern. I don’t know what we shall do if we don’t soon get rain.
Pa and Will have been drawing home their wood that they have been cutting. They had 9 loads.

I cut out a Chemise for Clara this afternoon.

She finished her new dress this evening. I finished setting our quilt together this afternoon, and this evening I helped Clara piece some blocks.

Thursday, January 14, 1869
This has been a very pleasant day. We did not get any rain last night, although it looked like it. I have been helping Clara piece some blocks this afternoon. She has got enough pieced for a quilt now, and this evening we pared up about ½ a bushel of apples that were spoiling.
Will has gone down town this evening.
