Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, 1868

Wednesday, October 7, 1868
This has been a very disagreeable day. The wind blew a gale all the forenoon, and this afternoon it has rained real hard. The men folks have been drawing in the buckwheat and beans. Melia and I have been sewing on Clara’s new calico dress.
Rob has been at work for David to day until it rained, and then he came home.
I expect there will be an awful frost to night.

Thursday, October 8, 1868
This has been a very cold, windy day. There was a hard frost last night. It froze the ground 3 inches deep, and we had a little snowstorm this morning.
The men folks have been picking peaches and taking them down to the village to sell. They sold the last.
Melia and I finished Clara’s dress to day and commenced some aprons.
