Tuesday, December 8, and Wednesday, December 9, 1868

Tuesday, December 8, 1868
This has been a cold, wintry day. It has been a bitter cold day! The wind has blew and the snow has fallen in great banks, and how dry it seems to have winter come so early!
I wanted to go down town, but could not. I wanted to have mailed my tickets.
Mother finished Will[‘s] pants to night.
I have been piecing to day.

Wednesday, December 9, 1868
And still the cold lasts! It has snowed and blowed all day, and this has been a colder day than yesterday.
I have been baking to day. We baked bread and pies, and I have pieced some blocks. Melia iorned this afternoon.

I could not go down town again to day. Will went down this evening.
