This has been a beautiful day, the
warmest we have had. Melia washed this morning and the afternoon we went to the
garden and she transplanted a good many of the roots.
I feel really well to day. I eat supper with the rest of them to night for the
first time in 3 months!
Pa and Billy have commenced to draw
out manure to day for the First this year.

Niece Notes: The first time I read this entry, I thought "eat" was a hand-written typo or a grammatical mistake. I was wrong. "Eat," pronounced "et," is a valid (though now rare) past tense form of the present tense "eat."
