A pleasant day. There was a hard
frost last night and it was very cold in the morning. I have been sewing some
to day. I finished Melia’s new waist.
Melia has been raking of the front
yard this afternoon.
Pa has commenced spading the garden
this afternoon, and Billy has made a gate to go into it. They sowed the spring
wheat in the orchard this forenoon.

Niece Notes: Celia had a special fondness for sewing, and as household chores were delegated around the family she would often work not only on her own projects but help her siblings out as well. Everyone had a job to do, but sometimes the work wasn't that unpleasant!
